Thursday Thirteen

Just a few of my favorite "motivational" quotes authored by others... not me.
1) We are made to persist. That's how we find out who we are.

2) We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done.

3) If you don't make mistakes, you're not working on hard enough problems. And that's a big mistake.

4) The end result of kindness is that it draws people to you.

5) The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be.

6) I define joy as a sustained sense of well-being and internal peace - a connection to what matters.

7) Of all afflictions, the worst is self-contempt.

8) Pain doesn't tell you when you ought to stop. Pain is the little voice in your head that tries to hold you back because it knows if you continue, you will change. Don't let it stop you from being who you can be. Exhaustion tells you when you ought to stop. You only reach your limit when you can go no further.

9) The simplest answer is to act. (from a fortune cookie)

10)"It's fun to be strong."

11) "Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."

12) The spirited horse, which will try to win the race of its own accord, will run even faster if encouraged.

13) Character is what you do when no one is watching.

Now if I could just convince my son to persist. Except with the bad habits. No need to persist there.
